The Cornelis Lely sloop was officially put into use on Saturday 19 October 2021 in the port of Werkeiland Lelystad by the Lelystad alderman Ed Rentenaar. On board ms Waddenzee, the Lelystad alderman was presented with the first boarding pass of the “Sloep Experience Cornelis Lely” by the owner Georg Fromm. With the Lelystad alderman at the helm, the sloop was sailed through the harbor of Jachthaven Lelystad-haven.
The oak sloop with cushions with images of the Werkeiland Lelystad in 1953 and Cornelis Lely, provides boat trips from Batavialand to the Werkeiland Lelystad.
During the cruise, the unique history of Flevoland is told. You just have to dare to build an entire province from scratch. Yet Flevoland was created that way. Man-made land, thick 4 meters below sea level, protected by kilometers of dike.
The boarding point of the Cornelis Lely Sloep is at the jetty of the Batavia near Batavialand and sails past the squatting man, the skyline of Lelystad, the Wortman pumping station, the Noordersluis to the Werkeiland Lelystad. The walking route Werkeiland Lelystad can be followed on the Werkeiland.
