In September, October and November Ed Walraven will exhibit his exhibition Focusing and zooming in: special reflections at FlevoMeer Library. The exhibition consists of several photos, which were taken from reflective surfaces and then edited. The works of art can be viewed in the activity room during library opening hours.
About the exhibition
Already in his teens, Walraven became interested in reflections through the work De modderplas by MC Escher. “Something that simple and almost literally vulgar, but of a serene beauty,” says Walraven. His own collection of reflections started out photographing ordinary images, such as a distorted tree in the reflective surface of rippling water, but now he is mainly attracted by strong distortions and discolorations on wavy surfaces with light effects. He then further processes these photos on the computers with cropping, light adjustment, color amplification and sharpness updating. Sometimes there is further processing, such as doubling and twisting the image, to suggest an additional reflection. A selection of his most beautiful works can now be viewed in FlevoMeer Library Lelystad.
