Once in 10 years
Floriade is a world horticultural exhibition that takes place in the Netherlands only once every 10 years. It is the 7th time that the exhibition is held in the Netherlands. This time at a beautiful location in Almere, in the middle of the Flevopolder. Here, Dutch horticulture brings the theme 'Growing Green Cities' to life in collaboration with national and international participants and partners. Let yourself be surprised!
A feast of greenery
The Floriade Park is a feast of greenery and sustainable technology. New technologies for green, food, energy and health are researched and applied in this living laboratory, but that's not all. There is a lot to see, smell and taste at the Expo.
At the Expo you can visit more than 40 country pavilions where countries show their culture, plants, flowers and local innovations for green cities. From France to Japan and from Indonesia to Qatar. Click on this link for a taste of what you can discover at the Expo.
As Flevolanders, we know what it's like to pioneer. It's not for nothing that we live in the largest man-made polder in the world! The national pavilions are also well represented at the Floriade. Look at this page to know more.
Art and culture
Culture lovers will also be amazed. Enjoy art and an extensive and varied cultural program with exhibitions, live entertainment from classical to jazz, entertainment orchestras and more at the Expo.
Catering and shopping
You can enjoy healthy and tasty snacks and meals at various restaurants, food trucks and tastings at the Expo. You can also look around the shops in the Floriade Park for a unique memento.
Step into the 850-meter cable car and let it take you from the southern part of the Floriade Park to the northern part, or vice versa. Along the way, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Floriade site from a height of 35 meters and you will test the unique potential of urban cable cars as a sustainable means of transport. A single cable car ride is included with your Floriade entrance ticket.
With the Floriade Pass you have unlimited access to Floriade Expo 2022. Whether you come by for a whole day or a few hours, you can always enjoy endless greenery. Visit the park as often as you like and discover the diversity of pavilions, enjoy the changing art and culture programme, see how all the greenery changes with the seasons and admire the park time and again from above from the cable car. The Floriade Pass is available at a reduced rate for residents of Flevoland!
(Tip!) Discover Flevoland
The Expo is an excellent starting point to discover the rest of Flevoland. Flevoland is a unique province that was raised by human hands from the sea a century ago. Four meters below sea level, protected by dikes, there are now endless landscapes, hundreds of kilometers of bicycle paths, long beaches and unspoilt natural areas. For example, take a day trip to the world heritage site of Schokland in the Noordoostpolder or visit Almere, the youngest city in the Netherlands!
(Tip 2!) Discover Lelystad
Lelystad is the river cruise port for the Floriade. The route along the Markermeer over one of the characteristic dikes is a fantastic way to get to and from the Expo. In this way, see with your own eyes the magic of the largest polder in the world. En route over the dike you will also travel along the youngest national park in the Netherlands: New Land National Park.
There is also plenty to do in Lelystad to make it a day trip. Take a closer look at the Exposure, for example. A 26-meter-tall man crouching along the coast. Or experience the premium leisure offer in the Bataviakwartier. Combine your visit to the Floriade with other sights in Lelystad and be surprised. For more about Lelystad, see VisitLelystad.nl.
From April 14 to October 9, 2022, Almere will be the stage for the world horticultural exhibition Floriade Expo 2022 for six months, with the theme 'Growing Green Cities'. In the 60-hectare Floriade park, you will discover green solutions from innovators from home and abroad that make our cities more fun, more beautiful and more sustainable in the field of greenery, food, health and energy. Floriade only takes place once every 10 years, so don't miss it!
