Camp & Surf Markermeer
Camp & Surf Markermeer is currently building on four parts:
- Camperplace
- surf center
- catering industry
- Self-sufficient installations – Off Grid Field Lab
The parts are developed parallel to each other and will go through different phases before the intended end result is there. This season a start will be made with the 55 camper places and a first version of the surf school, rental and test center. Surfing equipment can increasingly be rented and surf lessons can be taken. At the same time, the catering industry will start in the form of a beach kiosk, after which the final pavilion will be built steadily.
The major challenge of this location is the fact that there are no connections to the drinking water, electricity, gas and sewer system, so off grid. This means that it is a completely self-sufficient location. Besides the challenge, this is especially interesting for innovative and sustainable companies as well as for educational institutions.
All four parts are mainly aimed at water sports enthusiasts from home and abroad. This unique location located directly on the Markermeer in Lelystad, on a leidam of the Houtrib lock complexes, next to a newly constructed water sports beach called Bataviastrand - known among water sports enthusiasts as Hoekipa Dijk - has all the ingredients of a top location for water sports enthusiasts!
In many ways it can be said that this location is unique: For water sports enthusiasts because of the exceptionally good wind and water conditions on a beach, an unprecedented spot for kite surfers and the latest trend in water sports: Foiling. For campers, bon vivants and other visitors because of the expansive nature of the Markermeer for outdoor activities and tranquility in nature (Natura2000 area), and staying on a typical Dutch water artwork – Lock complex with breakwater – centrally located in the Netherlands and a stone's throw from Batavia City and harbor and opposite the Marker Wadden.
