Water sports are alive in Lelystad! And what better place for kite surfing than on a brand new beach, along a beautiful view of our iconic Exposure and the Houtrib locks on the Markermeer! In recent years, the Province of Flevoland, together with Rijkswaterstaat, a group of enthusiastic kite surfers from (now) the Hoekipa Dijk foundation, local wind and kite surfers and other parties involved, have worked hard on the realization of a 400-meter-long beach intended for small water sports.
We are therefore proud to announce that this beautiful beach, part of the large-scale project 'Reinforcement Houtribsluizen', is the new go-to place for small water sports in Lelystad! Whether you are a kite surfer, a SUPboarder, or just own a canoe or sailing boat, everyone is very welcome!
The Hoekipa Dijk is characterized by its excellent location. With a wide beach, a fine, stable wind and the absence of aquatic plants, this beach is excellent for both the novice and the advanced kite surfer. In the meantime, the parking at the beach has been greatly improved with better and more parking spaces.
Since the completion, the province has been responsible for the safe and clean use of the beach, including waste bins, toilet facilities and a path for maintenance and calamities.
The Bataviastrand has a lot to offer and a lot to tell about it.
