Stichting Sailability Nederland
People with disabilities must also be able to enjoy sailing actively and independently.
The Sailability Netherlands Foundation strives for cooperation with a national network of water sports associations / centers with a department 'adapted sailing' where people with a disability can independently practice sailing.
Yes, yes, all of that will be. But I have . . . So what?
Regardless of your handicap, you can (learn to) sail at a water sports association cooperating with Stichting Sailability Nederland.
Need help getting on and off the boat?
There are always volunteers who can help everyone, possibly with aids (oatillift)
Little sitting balance?
The boats are easy to provide with extras (a special seat, cushions and foam rubber).
Little or no strength in your arms?
The boats can be equipped with electric controls. With this you can even steer the boat with one finger or with your chin.
Visual disability?
There is also a solution for this. First you will gain experience under supervision. Then you will be coached from shore or a dinghy by an experienced sailor via a walkie-talkie.
Many more disabilities?
Do not think: "My disability is not listed so I cannot participate." In consultation with you, there is a solution for every handicap.
Safety. Never sailed before?
No problem! In the two-person boat you sail together with an experienced sailor who can explain to you how the boats work and how to sail.
