History in Lelystad
Centuries back in time
Museum Batavialand is about discovering, about daring and about doing. A visit to Batavialand is a journey of discovery for the whole family. Let yourself be transported to the world of historic shipbuilding, crafts and the 17th century.
You can step aboard an impressive reconstruction of one of the most famous Dutch ships, the VOC ship Batavia. But you can also play all kinds of old Dutch games and cannonballs are even fired every month. But Batavialand is also about life on the border between land and water. It shows what our struggle with water has meant for our country. In this way children learn everything about water management in a playful way and they can test their knowledge about water. Special theme weekends are organized in the summer, with appealing themes such as water, trade, rigging and ships.
