THINK OF THE NAME FOR THE NEW WATCHTOWER
A new lookout tower has recently been installed in Oostvaardersplassen Lelystad. From the Staatsbosbeheer Outdoor Center (Kitsweg 1) you can walk straight to the tower via the new decking paths. But… this new lookout tower still lacks a flashy name. Will you think of a cool name for the new lookout tower? Who knows, you might win a bird safari with your class!
At eye level with flying harriers
The new lookout tower is on the edge of the swamp. You come up to eye level with the flying harriers and can get a good view of the swamp and wet grasslands of the Oostvaardersplassen from above. Oostvaardersplassen is an area in Nieuw Land National Park and has a varied landscape with reeds, bushes, swamps and water where many species of birds live. While walking with a guide from Staatsbosbeheer you can do all kinds of activities and discoveries in the area. This way you learn a lot about birds, how they live and what they eat.
The winner goes on a bird safari with the entire class
To give the lookout tower a name, a competition has been devised where primary school students in groups 6, 7 and 8 can win a bird safari for the entire class! You can participate in the competition via www.ovplelystad.nl. At the festive opening of the lookout tower, the winner will receive an honorary role during the unveiling of the new name. The opening will take place later in 2024. You can register for the competition until March 1, 2024.
