We are Jan & Rianne Knook. We live with our children David, Fenna and Vera in the vast green countryside of Lelystad. Here we run our organic Arable Farm and our organic Poultry farm. The crops that we grow organically include Spinach, Green Beans, Parsley and Peas.
In the summer of 2018 we converted our rearing poultry house into an organic laying hen house. Our chickens have a nice life in the stable, they have plenty of space, fresh water and laying meal at their disposal. We also spread grain and gravel. They enjoy themselves by pecking at it and the pebble helps with the digestion of the food. There are also alfalfa bales and pecking stones in the stable. They can also go to the winter garden, which is a covered area next to the stable, where it is spacious and light. And of course the chickens have an area at their disposal with hiding places. The trees provide shelter from natural enemies. These willows will help the chickens distribute themselves better in the range.
