Originally, De Cantine was the restaurant with the oldest history in Flevoland. The restaurant originally stood on the former Werkeiland, where the reclamation took place. A few years ago, 'Stake 5' had to make way for new construction. The building was demolished and the original trusses saved. Hans and Yvonne Bakker had kept the original construction drawing all these years. When they managed to acquire a new accommodation next to the Nieuw Land, not only the restaurant, but also the name De Cantine was restored. Many objects from these early years can still be found in the restaurant.

In 2014, Restaurant De Cantine offers delicious meat, fish and vegetarian dishes using various regional and organic products. The restaurant has a homely and relaxed atmosphere. In addition, De Cantine has a beautiful terrace located on the Markermeer, where you can enjoy the summer sun. The terrace consists of 3 parts, 1 lounge area.
