Scheepswrakpaal “OF12”
At this point there is shipwreck pole "OF12", recognizable by a striped pole (white/blue) with a red image of a ship on it. These are the remains of a water vessel (fishing vessel type) of over 20 meters long and 6.6 meters wide, which wrecked around 1600. The wreck is preserved in the seabed.
Hundreds of shipwrecks were found during the reclamation of Flevoland. The ships often date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Flevoland is the largest dry shipwreck cemetery in the world. You can see this shipwreck pole when you cycle the shipwreck route through Lelystad. Some of the shipwreck posts are equipped with a QR code, which after scanning provides more information about the wreck in question. Shipwreck pole "OF12" is not provided with such a QR code.
