Northeast of the city, between the A6 and the N307, you will find the fish pond forest. The forest is named after the former fish farm located northwest of the area.
The area is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The Noordertocht canal runs through the southeastern part of the forest area. The area includes the pine marten and the beaver. The fish pond forest is a link in the ecological connection zone between the Houtribbos on the west side and the nature reserves in the northeast of Southern Flevoland.
