The Zeelopers & Landvaarders tourist campaign was launched today. In this way, the municipality wants to put Lelystad on the map locally, regionally and nationally and to enthuse people for a visit to Lelystad. Therefore, alderman Annemieke Messelink-Dijkstra, together with Piet Roskam, owner of camping Buytenplaets Suydersee, landed a boat very appropriately.
The campaign tells the story of the special history of Lelystad and Flevoland and was developed together with tourist entrepreneurs from Lelystad. A number of entrepreneurs have already joined the campaign with, for example, a special Zeelopers & Landvaarders sailing trip, a dinner, lunch or walk where you walk across the sea and sail across the land, as it were.
Alderman Annemieke Messelink-Dijkstra: “Lelystad is one of the youngest cities in the Netherlands and has a special history. We want to tell that story with this campaign. It is great that entrepreneurs immediately responded enthusiastically and helped us think about what they could organize themselves around the theme of welcoming visitors to Lelystad. I therefore warmly invite visitors to come and experience that.”
Boat as a special overnight location
One of the entrepreneurs participating in the campaign is Piet Roskam, owner of camping Buytenplaets Suydersee. After discussions with the municipality and other entrepreneurs, he came up with the idea of purchasing a boat and placing it on his campsite as a special overnight location in the theme of the new tourist campaign. In this way he wants to attract visitors from outside to let them experience the special story of Lelystad. Piet Roskam: “We are pleased to be able to offer this new accommodation location to our guests. How nice it is to spend the night in an old cabin boat that floats on the waves of the land!”
